Haven’t done much on my blog lately, but here is an update:
After 3 years spending time and efforts with helping people on the official UrbanTerror forums on technical issues and other sort of questions. They have decided to make me a forum moderator.
So i was working on making a Windows build for OpenTerror. At some point i felt my computer is being slower than usual. I went to check for what’s taking up all the CPU usage.
This was what i found:
You might think: “well maybe you got a weak CPU”… I might think so if i didn’t knew that my processor is E8600 (one of the fastest Intel duo-core from their Exxxx series) running at 4.5GHz.
Take notice that i was running VirtualBox, with a running Ubuntu install in it that i’m using as local web development server, that uses way less CPU time than TortoiseSVN did.
I found this originally on a video discussion forum. But SevenOfNine was able to find this newer version (this is for Windows btw). Tho i gotta say i haven’t tried this version out for myself yet.
Instead of apache auto-indexing, here is WordPress. Better way to present and search the data stored on this website. There’ll be some changes and modification around here (some fuck ups are not excluded).
In the mean while, i’ll try to upload the old data and set the original upload date in WordPress. So you might find some “old” article appearing which has a newer upload date.
A new UrbanTerror video that i made as show case for high frame-rate capture application: to gain motion-blur effect due to frames-blending. This source video was captured at 1250 fps. Using frames blending in Sony Vegas, down-sampled to 60fps video. High frame-rate capture is also ideal for good quality slow-motion (stretched) footage editing.
Some focus on this video editing was to work with color curves to get the vibrant, cartoon-ish look. Also short footage cuts to keep the video dynamic.
AK-103 is the most powerful automatic assault rifle in Urban Terror. It is being somewhat under-used in the game due to its low rate-of-fire and high recoil and spread. But used properly, it makes fragging targets looks easy and effortless.
This config is meant for demo review and video capturing.
This config requires ioUrbanTerror that comes with UrT4.1 or newer (e.g. 27′s VBO builds). This is a mandatory requirement as the older clients has config limited to 16kb.
Video capturing is a CPU and disk intensive tasks. Make sure you have decent hardware for this task! ioUrbanTerror comes with build-in avi capture which is better than using FRAPS. I suggest you use this build-in feature. Infact, i refuse to support anyone that comes asking for help when they areĀ using FRAPS. Good luck on your own there.
A good config is only a minor part of video making. Just having good quality captures isn’t all there is to it. Put some effort in video editing and apply proper color correction does a great deal in making your video looks good. Also, don’t forget to force Anti-Aliasing with your videocard!
ATI users: Force anisotropic filter to 16x with Catalyst for better textures quality! The engine build-in anisotropic results is slightly inferior compared to ATI’s anisotropic filter settings.
